GHG Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an analysis approach that allows the estimation of the GHG performances of bioenergy system. This is calculated by assessing the energy use and the flows of emissions to and from the atmosphere at each life cycle stage of any given bioenergy system.

LCA is widely used to assess the GHG performance of bioenergy systems to ensure that they produce energy and products with lower comparative emissions to fossil fuel energy.

The Supergen Bioenergy Hub have completed many LCA analyses, the examples presented in this App demonstrate the potential GHG performance of scenarios where heat bioenergy is generated using a range of bioenergy technologies and UK biomass resource feedstocks.
