Fermentation
Fermentation is a biochemical conversion process where the actions of enzymes drive a metabolic process that results in chemical changes to the organic proportion of feedstocks. Fermentation typically occurs in anaerobic conditions and the main products can be ethanol, lactic acid and Hydrogen – which can be used as a fuel or as a Feedstock for further chemical conversion processes. Fermentation technologies include both batch and continuous processes, each having different operation challenges, yield potentials and resulting economic performances.
