Charcoal
Charcoal (also known as Char or Biochar) is a primary product of the slow Pyrolysis of Biomass materials. Biochar and can be utilised in Combustion or co-Combustion (e.g. with coal) to generate heat and power. The term 'Biochar' is generally referring to the use of Char as a soil amendment, while when the Char is used for generating energy it is most often referred to as 'charcoal'. Charcoal is an extremely popular energy source in developing countries and in rural areas. Compared to Biomass, it is more resistant to degradation and usually has a higher energy density.
