Bagasse
Bagasse is the residue fibres remaining after the extraction of sugar-bearing juice from crops such as sugarcane and sorghum. Bagasse may be processed or used directly as a Feedstock to generate Bioenergy.
Bagasse is often the primary fuel source used within sugar mills, where it is combusted at scale to produce all the heat and power required to process sugar. Bagasse has high energy characteristics meaning there is often excess energy available for local users or to be sold to the grid.
