Dr. Samira Garcia Freites
Samira Garcia-Freites is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD from the University of Manchester. Her PhD research focused on evaluating the feasibility of bioenergy production from coffee residues to support Sustainable Development in Colombian rural areas. She also completed a post-doctoral research at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change where she conducted process modelling and life-cycle assessment of Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) supply chains. Her research interests are on Bioenergy, Energy access to rural communities, Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage.
Samira has contributed with the Bioenergy and Sustainability section of this application, providing insights on how bioenergy deployment can support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and allowing her research diagram (Multidimensional framework for identifying synergies and trade-offs between bioenergy and the SDGs) to be displayed on the Bioenergy Sustainability/SDG page.
